BAC 1-11; 50 Years since the First Flight on Aug. 20. 1963

On August 20. 1963,  the prototype of the BAC 1-11 conducted the first flight out of  Hurn Airport (Bournemouth).
Between 1963 and 1989, 245 BAC 1-11’s have been built (236 BAC-1-11’s and 9 RomBac’s; built by CNIAR in Romania).
74 Airlines worldwide, many military, government, corporate  and private operators used the BAC 1-11 within the years.
50 years after the first flight, only 2 BAC 1-11’s are still in service with Northrop Grumman as airborne testbeds

The BAC 1-11 is the most successful British Jet Airliner ever built.
