On June 29. 1962, the Prototype of the Vickers VC10 made it's first flight out of Brooklands at Weybridge/UK to Wisley, BAC's flight test center.
32 Standard and 22 Super VC10's have been built. The Vickers VC10 is the largest Passenger Jet that had ever been produced solely in the UK.
As of June 2012, only 9 examples of the VC10 remain in active service with the Royal Air Force; all of which are to be retired by 2013.
